Located on the county borders of Carlow, Wicklow and Kildare, we are a rural catholic coeducational school run under the patronage of the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin and the auspices of the Department of Education and Skills, but we also have due recognition for all other religions. Originally founded in 1896, we have a deep historical connection with our local community. Our links with the area are clearly visible through the active involvement of our parents and wider community throughout the year.

In Bigstone National School, we seek to provide an educational experience of the highest professional standard for our students so that they may be encouraged to reach their full potential – educationally, spiritually, morally and physically. Students are involved in a wide range of
activities throughout their time in Bigstone National School, whereby we foster the holistic development of each student, as an individual.
